Re-registration and restoration criteria for patent attorneys

To be eligible to register as a patent attorney an applicant must be of good fame, integrity, and character. This criteria does not apply to attorneys seeking re-registration or restoration to the patent attorney register.

The 2023 Review on the Arrangement between the Governments of Australia and New Zealand Relating to the Trans-Tasman Regulation of Patent Attorneys recommended review of the reregistration and restoration criteria and consideration to providing more rigorous requirements of good fame, integrity, and character to those seeking re-registration or restoration.
