We are updating some of our fees to continue covering the costs of administering intellectual property (IP) rights and their associated legislation. The changes to our fees will commence from midnight Tuesday 1 October 2024.
We review fees every 4 years, with the last update in October 2020. Our latest fee review commenced in 2023, aligning with our commitment to keeping our cost recovery arrangements consistent with the Australian Government Charging Policy.
The fee changes follow a review process of more than 15 months, including 2 public consultation phases. We carefully considered all the feedback received before finalising our new fee arrangements.
In addition to fee changes, we used the fee review process to reconsider the costs that could be awarded in patents, trade marks or design rights proceedings.
