IP Australia a world-leader for innovation in IP agencies

World Trademark Review highlights our digital capabilities and customer-focused approach.

We’ve been recognised as a global leader in intellectual property (IP) innovation, ranking equal third, alongside Korea and Singapore, in the World Trademark Review's (WTR) 2026 IP Office Innovation Ranking.

This marks the second time in a row we’ve achieved a top-three position, reinforcing our commitment to building a world-class IP system.

The biennial WTR ranking evaluates offices on digital capabilities, artificial intelligence (AI) adoption, and user experience.

In the recently published WTR article, we were “widely praised” for our responsible use of AI-assisted pre-filing and examiner support tools to improve accuracy and efficiency.

Their detailed analysis (subscriber only) also highlighted our customer-centric approach, with robust digital platforms and tailored user support to help businesses navigate IP processes with confidence.

Our practical tools include TM Checker, which simplifies trade mark searches, and advanced classification systems that streamline examination processes.

As a value-added service, our pilot IP First Response platform uses AI to help small to medium enterprises navigate information about their options when faced with an IP infringement or enforcement concern.

Our application programming interfaces (APIs), which help businesses to integrate our tools into their system’s software, and our secure online services also demonstrate how we’re leveraging technology to deliver smarter, faster outcomes for innovators.

We’re proud to be recognised as a global leader among IP offices, and we remain focused on continuous improvement to deliver on our purpose and continue to maintain a high-quality, customer-centric and efficient IP rights system.
